Mission Statement:
Our mission is to foster courtesy, consideration and cooperation within a caring environment while developing independent, life-long learners, who will be able to communicate, participate and contribute in our changing world.

School Goals

Our school goals this year are improvement in literacy, numeracy,  behavior and a focus on healthy living.   We are very proud of our outstanding success and improvement over  the past few years in all of these areas.  We look forward to even greater gains this year.  There is no stopping us now.  We are on the rise!

School Uniforms
Hopefully you were able to purchase all the garments your child will need for this school year.  Each student will need at least two tops and two bottoms.  Uniform shirts are available for purchase from the school.  The dark navy pants, shorts, skorts, etc. must be purchased at any local store, such as Wal-Mart, Zellers, The Bay, Sears etc.  Jeans are not to be  worn to school.  Students must have a school crest showing at all times except during gym when they are to wear a plain white t-shirt and plain navy shorts.

Shoes
Students need an in-door pair of runners which must be “non-marking”.  Shoes that leave black marks scuff our hallways and our gym floors.  Black marking shoes will not be allowed in the school nor in the gym.  Please check to see that the soles on your child’s runners are “non-marking”.

Peanut Safe School
Every year we have students who have severe peanut allergies.  Please do not send peanut butter sandwiches and other products that contain peanuts to school.  Even a trace amount of peanut butter from sticky fingers can be life threatening to those individuals with an allergy to peanuts.  We are doing everything we can to keep all our students safe while at school.  Please help us ensure that Pearson Road Elementary is a “Peanut Free School”.

Pupil Information

Verification Forms and Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy forms will be send home with all students.  It is IMPERATIVE that the forms are completed with emergency contact and home phone numbers.  Please take the time to read through the information before signing the bottom portion of that verification form.

Parking
Please note that our parking lot is for STAFF  ONLY.  We only have 48 parking spots on our lot.  We have over 50 staff members needing to use the parking lot throughout the day.  Not all of our staff members are here from 8:30 – 2:30.  Some of them are here just during the lunch hour and some are itinerant which means they are at our school some days and at other schools on other days.  Several staff members are here for part of the school day.  Our parking area cannot accommodate staff and parents.   Please park along the street and walk onto the school property to pick up or drop off your children.   Your consideration for the safety of our students and the needs of our staff will be greatly appreciated.

Student Fees
The cost associated with student fees covers all the pencils, pens, coloring tools, notebooks, photocopying, art supplies, etc. for your child for the entire school year.  Since the items are bought in bulk purchase for the whole school district, we are able to offer parents considerable savings on school supplies.  Prompt payment of the school fees ensures that our obligation to the supplier is met in a timely manner.

The $10.00 for cultural fees covers the cost of bringing in four high quality performances each year for our students.  You are welcome to come see the performances yourself.  Check the Student Planner to see the dates and times of the performances scheduled for this year.  You won’t be disappointed.  The entertainers are exceptional.

School Fees
School supplies are available for purchase at the school.  These items are important for your child’s learning and are priced very reasonably.
  K supplies    =  $19.00       Cultural fee $10.00  = $29.00
Gr 1-6 supplies =  $30.00       Cultural fee $10.00  = $40.00
